Motion Reference Unit for Hydrographic Survey

High reliability, accurate data, robust design, faster and low-cost deployment are many of the characteristics Hydrographers request when selecting systems and components for a specific sonar system to achieve accurate seabed mapping.

The SMC-108 Motion Reference Unit has been proven for many years to meet these specifications for shallow water seafloor, harbour and coastline mapping using multibeam sonar systems, sidescan sonars and sub-bottom profilers.

Recommended MRU mounting positions:

A standard installation for an SMC-108-30, IP68 30m depth rated MRU, would involve the SMC-108 mounted on the Sonar for the ideal motion compensation.

For an SMC-108, IP66 surface unit, the recommendation is either directly above the Sonar Mount on the vessel or at the Center of Gravity for the vessel.

The SMC-108 is optimized for the marine environments and is compatible with multiple systems and processing packages.
